I was hit by a guy in a firebird a few months ago. Definitely make sure you get your car back. My insurance totalled my car and gave me 2 options 1) Pay me $4000 and they take the car and all I get is $4K thats it 2) Pay me $3000 and I get to keep the car and do whatever I want with it. It would have been crazy for me to not keep it. Make sure you keep yours even if it can be fixed or a total loss to part out. I spent about $3500 in the end to fix it all up. New jdm front bumper, new ds fender, used hood, rim, headlight, fog light and paint but I had no frame damage. If they deem it totaled but its still fixable but worth it to you to fix it,,, then fix it. I had only owned my car for 5 weeks when this happened to me as well.
